ACC - SEC Top 10, Week 12
11.19.08 - Posted By: Wes Mewbourne
Wow, what a week in the ACC. All three ranked teams from the conference (North Carolina, Florida State, and Wake Forest) LOST! I got lots of love for our coastal brethren, but it’s awful hard to see them as a power conference when there isn’t a top 20 team in the bunch. The SEC is still showing it’s a two team conference, too, with Florida and Bama both winning convincingly, while defending champ LSU had to overcome a four touchdown deficit to Troy and Georgia struggled to put away ailing Auburn.
The ACC Mystery

After another weekend of upsets, the ACC finds itself with two heated division battles. Miami and Maryland head up the Coastal and Atlantic divisions right now at 4-2 each in league play. But they each have two tough ACC games remaining. The conference continues to beat up on itself as the two division winners will likely have three conference losses each. That's balance. and the race for Tampa is wide open.

Back by popular demand (actually, our fearless leader TopFan himself asked for it) is the semi-weekly edition of this week's ACC/SEC Top 10. Will The BCS Be Saved?

Alabama has put itself in prime contention for a banner season, winning on the road at LSU Saturday, but still has two more huge games left, one of those being a conference championship game. Texas Tech is in nearly the exact same situation. They have a huge game remaining with Oklahoma, and then the Big 12 Title game. These two both also have an upset trap game in-between against unranked opponents. However, if these two schools can win out, the BCS wil have a 1-2 match-up between the only two major undefeated teams. Do I think it will happen? Nope.

Clemson Saved by CJ, Gamecocks Dominate Tennessee

CJ Spiller is the reason Clemson was able to leave Boston with a win Saturday. Period. The junior running back had 242 total yards for the game - 105 receiving, 55 rushing, and 82 on returns - and swung the momentum in Clemson's favor several times with key plays.
The Battle For Number 2

When the dust settles in the next month, and we know our conference champions, two teams will be granted the privilege to play in the 2009 BCS National Championship game in Miami. Determining which two teams will be making the trip is setting up to be a train-wreck. In an instant classic this past Saturday, Texas Tech knocked off number 1 Texas to remain unbeaten. With the win, the Red Raiders jumped number 3 Penn State to become number 2 behind Alabama in the latest AP poll.
ACC-SEC Top 10, Week 10

Certainly, this week was an interesting one for the two conferences. Virginia topped Georgia Tech, North Carolina owned Boston College, and Florida and Georgia combined for 115 points on two of the league’s “better” defenses. Here’s how everything shakes up this week…
